Email Conversion FAQ

Please NOTE that we are discontinuing email service ONLY. This change does not affect your High-Speed Internet or Fiber service, Telephone or Satellite TV service(s).

Geneseo Communications will be discontinuing its email service on May 15, 2017. If you are visiting this site, you likely have received an email informing you of this change. Within that email lists instructions to complete this transition including an online form where you can communicate your new email address for purpose of continuing your email powered services through us.

Why are you discontinuing your email service? We realize there are many FREE email options available to customers today including G-Mail, Yahoo, Hotmail and more. These providers specialize in email and are capable of offering a more robust email experience. Although our email service has been reliable and enjoyed by many, the equipment to provide the service has reached the end of its life. Based on these reasons our company has elected to let those that specialize in email provide email while we concentrate our efforts on our specialty, providing our customers with the BEST HIGH-SPEED INTERNET SERVICE AVAILABLE!

When is this change taking effect? All Geneseo.net and Theinter.com accounts will be disabled as of May 15, 2017. Our current email subscribers will have one full year to transition to a new email provider.

Will this change affect my High-Speed Internet service? NO, the discontinuance of email service has no effect on your other Geneseo Communication Services including high-speed Internet, telephone and/or satellite TV service.

What new email service providers do you recommend? There are numerous email service providers available. G-mail, Yahoo and Hotmail are just a few options. The choice is up to the individual user. Geneseo Communications does not recommend or endorse any one specific email service provider.

Once I secure my new email account do I need to notify you? YES, there are many Geneseo Communication supported services customers subscribe to that require an active email address. Those are identified on the form linked to the email you received from us regarding the email conversion.

How should I supply you with my new email address once obtained? As a current Geneseo.net or Theinter.com email account holder we will send you a personalized email with automated steps on updating your Geneseo Communications account with your newly obtained email address. Once you complete this form our records will automatically update and no further action will be required on your part.

I have multiple email accounts; how will these be handled?
A separate email will be sent for each email account that resides on our system.  If you have multiple accounts, you will receive an email for each account and will need to complete the online form process for each account.

How do I export my current email contact list from my old email account to my new? This process will be dependent on the email client you choose to utilize. Most email providers such as Gmail make the process fairly simple. Before enrolling with a new email client service verify their process for exporting your contact list and existing email files.

I understand you are giving me the option to forward my email from my old email address to my new but what if I do not want to do that. I look at this as an opportunity to stop getting junk emails? We highly recommend you forward email as it will allow you to capture email correspondence that you may want to update with your new email address. In agreeing to forward your email from your Geneseo.net or Theiner.com email to your newly obtained email account you are simply authorizing us to do nothing but FORWARD. It WILL NOT provide any email contacts with your new email address but it will help you to identify contacts you may wish to share your new email address with.

To setup email forwarding you will be asked to check the email forward option on the online form you complete. We will then send you two confirmation emails, one to your new email address and one to your Geneseo.net or Theinter.com email address. To complete the forward request, you must respond to both emails confirming you wish to have your email forwarded. Forwarding will begin the Monday following receipt of confirmation.

How long will you continue to forward my email? We will continue to forward your Geneseo.net or Theinter.com email to your new email address beginning the Monday following the date you first provide confirmation you wish to forward your email up until May 15, 2017.

I use my Geneseo.net or Theinter.com email for business purposes. This email is printed on my letterhead, business cards etc. Changing it will incur a cost to me, is there any way I can pay to keep this email account? Unfortunately no. As mentioned above the equipment to provide this service is at the end of its life. However, Geneseo Communications offers a full line of print service products including letter head, business cards and much more. To help offset the expenses you might incur for these items we are extending you a 20% discount off any print orders with one FREE hour of design time. I am not sure I understand what you are requesting of me, is there someone I can talk to who can help me complete these steps? What about help with setting up my cell phone? I currently receive my emails on my cellular device, do I have to go to my provider for help setting my cell phone up to receive email from my new email account? If you would like assistance setting up your cellular device to receive email from your new email account, please call our US Cellular store at 309-944-2195, Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our staff can assist with email account setup on ANY wireless device.
