Q: What is included in a basic package?

A: On Guard offers three different packages. For a listing of these packages, click Package Deals.

Q: How long is the contractual agreement?

A: Our contracts typically are three years in duration and have a month-to-month renewal provision, during which the customer may cancel the contract upon 30 days’ written notice.

Q. I just purchased a home with a security system. How do I get it activated?

A: You may activate the existing system by calling us at 888-693-1115, Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Q. Will the On Guard Security system still work if I lose power?

A: Yes. The back-up batteries in the security control panel will keep your system running for several hours. Check the “low battery” indicator on the security panel regularly to ensure adequate battery power.

Q. Why is it important that I test my system?

A: Testing your alarm system ensures its proper operation and communication with our Monitoring Center. In order to test the entire system, each component or zone must be tested individually. Please refer to your system information or call one of our Customer Service representatives for instructions on how to test your system. To avoid false alarms, you must contact our Central Monitoring Station when you will be testing your system to prevent the alarm monitoring station from dispatching authorities to respond to the alarm signal.

Q: Am I required to get a permit to operate an alarm system?

A: Each city jurisdiction is different. You can contact our office for assistance, or check your city ordinance. In the end, if a permit is required, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to obtain the permit through the correct authorities.

Q: I lost my system pass code. How do I access my system?

A: System pass codes are confidential. To retrieve your system pass code you will need to stop by our office and show identification.

Q: How do I update my account information?

A: You may update your account information by contacting our office at 888-693-1115, your pass code will be required.

Q: How do I reset my system?

A: Enter your four digit pass code twice. The first time will silence the alarm and the second time will reset the system.

Q. Why do you always ask for a pass code when my alarm goes off?

A: This is a verification process, not only to ensure your safety but to determine that the person answering is authorized to be at the location. If an incorrect pass code is given, we will continue with the dispatch process.

Q. How do I cancel an alarm?

A: In the event an alarm is triggered and the customer qualifies it as a ‘false alarm’ the alarm can be canceled by calling the Central Monitoring Station at 1.866.551.2801. Your system pass code will be requested prior to cancelling the alarm.
