Aisle of Flags receives funds in support of their mission to continue to honor those who have served our Country!

For nearly a decade, Geneseo Communications employees have hosted the first ice cream social of the season in support of the Geneseo Aisle of Flags. Under our current state ordered safety precautions, this year’s event took on a ‘unique’ flavor which resulted in an incredible outpouring of community support!

“Although our current times prevented us from our normal gathering at the park, the need to support Geneseo Aisle of Flags still existed,” said Kay Croegaert, VP of Marketing for Geneseo Communications. “In answer to that need we decided to host an online fundraising event that concluded with a virtual concert featuring the Maple City Band. The results of those efforts have our employees in a state of amazement and gratitude; not only of the generosity shared by those within our immediate community but also the outpouring of support from families of veterans from all over the country who once called Geneseo home. The donations poured in, many of which accompanied notes sharing personal stories of the importance these flags hold in honoring lost loved ones who have served our country. As a result, including a generous donation from Geneseo Communications, more than $5,000 was raised in support of the Geneseo Aisle of Flags. We would like to personally thank Alan Kiser and all the Maple City Band members, who partnered with us on this event, as well as all those who generously donated helping to further the Aisle of Flags mission to honor veterans, past and present.”

“The Geneseo Aisle of Flags was started nearly 35 years ago as a community salute to the men and women of Geneseo who served our country,” said Bob DeBoever, Aisle of Flags Committee President.  “We depend on the support generated through the annual ice cream social and were unsure how to fill the void in funding with those being cancelled. When Geneseo Communications approached us about hosting a virtual event we were open to the idea but unsure how it would be received during these uncertain times. Once again people stepped up and through their generous support, we can continue this tribute to the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!”
